In the Antwerp Port Regulations is stated that a training about the IMDG-Code and Antwerp Port Byelaws for the handling of dangerous cargoes is mandatory.

By obtaining an IMDG-certificate, you’re halfway there. With your IMDG-certificate you can register for this training, Antwerp Port Byelaws for the handling of dangerous cargoes.

With this obligation, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), is hoping to reduce the number of violations to be found during inspections of containers with dangerous goods. Also risks such as fire onboard, environmental catastrophe, danger to human life, will be drastically reduced by this measure.
